An Elusive R-57. 1928 to 1930
The R-57 was the "S" bike of its era. It was modeled after the first factory racers of 1925. Weight: 330lb dry, Top Speed: 72 mph.
This bike was found disassembled, but complete, in Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall. As it showed little wear, it was probably an un-raced, well maintained private bike when disassemble and hidden from Nazi conscription in WWII.
The restoration was performed over a two year period by John Viljoen at his shop, Antique Cycle NW, in Seattle. The bike runs good as it looks, and is fun to ride.
